Texas In Turmoil: The Border Remains Open As Election Nears
Joe Biden And Kamala Harris's Total Lack Of Action At The U.S.-Mexico Border Isn't A Good Look Heading Into November
All across the United States, legal immigrants are being dumped in sanctuary cities, straining resources and infrastructure. The story is different but the same in Texas, where illegal immigrants are crossing the border and entering the country and overwhelming small communities with their influx.
Border-crossing migrants have even started to be shipped north to Denver under Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s “Operation Lone Star”, dispersing illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities. According to city officials, Denver has received more migrants per capita than any other big city outside of Texas.
According to Abbott and other Texas officials, the number of migrants crossing from Mexico is too much for the border communities of the state to handle so they’re sending immigrants to other cities that have already claimed to be willing to help, support, and protect migrants.
Earlier this year, illegal immigrants attempting to enter the U.S. from Mexico near the El Paso border saw the Texas National Guard get “overrun by migrants”.
New York Post reporter, Jennie Taer said that hundreds of immigrants “decided they had enough” of Texas National Guard members trying to return them back to Mexico and overran the border, pulling down a border fence and forcing their way into the country.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection statistics, border crossings in January 2024 alone totaled 68,260.
The journey to America from Mexico is treacherous - and often fatal - meaning record-level migration has also brought record-level death. From 2021 to 2022, fatalities along the southwest border soared from 281 to 895.
Although border crossings are still high by historical standards, arrests for illegal crossings are down almost 80% from December to July of this year. Political rhetoric and heavier patrolling along the border have likely encouraged this drop, as well as the nearing Presidential election.
After that, though - it’s largely dependent on who takes office. With Kamala Harris, the border will remain uncontrolled and open to allow large sects of illegal immigrants into the country to vote Democrat in future elections.
One of the biggest - if not the largest - policies Donald Trump is running on is securing the border and tackling illegal immigration to get it under control.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris had 4 years to address the issue and do something. Why should Kamala get another 4 years of complete and total inaction?
